Understanding The Different Types of Skin Care Products For Men

Men's Grooming Products >>

First of all, men can use all of this site just the same as a woman can. Men skin care products aren't that dissimilar to a woman's as men also have dry, oily, sensitive, acne prone etc. skin types too.

There's actually nothing wrong using the same products as a woman so long as you choose the rights products for your type of skin.

However, having said that skin care products for men have come a long way and there is a great variety of men's grooming products which retain a skin care market all to themselves.

Also the skin care range for men comes with a more masculine scent or entirely unscented, which is a great bonus for the majority of men.

It's OK to use a woman's cream, but some of them do smell feminine, which could obviously be a problem for some men.

Apart from the shaving aspect, the skin care
regime for men is the same as it is for a woman

Here is a brief run-down of a skin care routine for men whilst highlighting some popular men skin care products from The Body Shop.  The reason why I've chosen the Body Shop is because their products are very good quality but still at a very reasonable cost!

After-Shaving

After shaving your skin is very dry, rough and probably sore.  Therefore the last thing you want to slap on your face is an alcohol-based aftershave lotion.  This is the worst thing you can do for your skin.

For Men Shaving CreamWhat you need to put on is an aftershave balm/ moisturiser which will immediately soothe, calm and hydrate your skin.

The Body Shop offer a Maca Root Shave Cream which prepares your face before you shave.  This helps condition the skin and is suitable for all skin types.

They then have the Maca Root Razor Relief which you use to calm your skin down and it helps to minimise any redness or irritation leaving your skin feeling cool and calm!

Cleansing

Using a scented soap is a bad idea to wash your face with as the fragrance has chemicals in it which will irritate most skin types.   If you really want to look after your skin then its best to use a cleanser/gentle face wash.

Men's Mild Face WashThe idea of cleansing is to get deep into the pores of your skin and remove the excess dirt and grime of the day.   A good cleanser will not strip your skin of its natural oils, will help get rid of dead skin cells and will make you feel fresh and rejuvenated.

Here's a great Maca Root Face Wash as it is mild and gentle on the face so it can be used on sensitive skin.  It's very effective and is soap-free with a natural fragrance.

Moisturise

You may, or may not shave everyday, either way you should still moisturise your skin at least twice a day (morning and night).  If you do shave everyday then the aftershave balm/moisturiser can act as one of those moisturises.

Men's Face Protector MoisturiserA good moisturiser will help keep your skin moist and hydrated and should feel cool, calm and grease-free on your skin once applied.  You want to stop your skin from drying out throughout the day which is why you should apply face cream at least twice a day.

The Body Shop offer two face protecting creams.  One is for Normal and Dry Skin and the other is for Oily and Combination Skin.  Both these creams boost the skin's vitality and have built in SPF15 to protect your face from environmental aggravations. Men's Skincare Kit
